QMSI is currently accepting resumes for the following positions:
Controls Specialist
Traditional Education and Experience:
MS engineering, or related technical field - 5 years experience
BS in engineering, or related technical field - 6 years experience
AS in engineering, or related technical field - 15 years experience
Expected Level of Independence:
Given hardware concepts, must be able to select components and develop hardware design to accomplish safe and economical control of machines. Given production requirements must write viable sequence of operations to drive hardware and accomplish effective process/machine control.
Minimum Demonstrated Skills:
Ability to develop large scale machine control algorithms
Ability to develop hardware design concepts for small systems, or for limited parts of large systems from customer process requirements documents and mechanical layouts.
Must be proficient with real time control systems programming tools
Must be thoroughly knowledgeable of QMSI design and document standards
Must have working knowledge of electrical codes and OSHA requirements for manufacturing equipment
Ability to manage technical groups and small projects
Ability to assign tasks to individuals
Ability to resolve technical design issues
Ability to enforce QMSI engineering and programming standards
Ability to enforce project schedule
Ability to quickly learn new technologies, including:
Control software development tools
Sensors and automatic identification equipment
Process control equipment
Ability to interface with customers for day-to-day issues
Ability to develop I/O lists and equipment lists for use in project proposals
Ability to debug complex, multi-system hardware and software problems
Ability to write test procedures and safely supervise/run system integration and startup tests

Electrical or Controls Engineer
Same as Controls Specialist above with the following additions:
Graduate of ABET accredited engineering curriculum
Passed Principles and Practices of Engineering examination offered by any state’s Engineering Licensing board.
Recognized by the state’s licensing board as a Professional Engineer

Project Manager
Traditional Education and Experience:
MS in engineering, computer science, or related technical field – 15 years experience
BS in engineering, computer science, or related technical field – 17 years experience
Expected Level of Independence:
Given project requirements, estimate project cost and manage execution to ensure profitability and technical success of the project.
Minimum Demonstrated Skills:
Must have the ability to estimate large-scale projects, including man-hour requirements, sub-contract requirements, and hardware and construction costs. This includes ability to develop profitable milestone payment schedules.
Must be able to develop project timelines in a manner that minimizes risk, and maximizes profitability. Must include the ability to recognize prerequisites.
Must be able to recognize when a project task is behind schedule and be able to forecast and minimize the impact on the rest of the project.
Must be able to make a determination that a technical solution is not likely to work, or that it will be cost prohibitive to continue working on that path and determine the timing of going to the fallback solution.
Must be able to work with vendors to place orders for equipment and subcontract work, and do so in a timely fashion to ensure project hardware is available when needed for the overall project schedule.
Ability to work with Project Administrators on a periodic basis to provide billing instructions for project milestones.
Must be able to work with customers to ensure that milestones are met, and that prompt payment for those milestones is received.
Must be able to recognize, identify and follow through with end-of-project tasks to ensure timely completion of a project.
